Pricing
One fee to find out, then a written price
There is one number to remember before the work is quoted, and it does not move.
How a job is priced, in three stages
-
Call
The phone call is free
Describe the symptom in your own words. If it is something you can put right yourself in ten minutes at the panel or the breaker, we will say so and there is nothing to pay. That happens often enough to be worth mentioning first.
-
Visit
$129, flat, for the diagnosis
A flat $129 covers the visit and the diagnosis, and it comes off the bill if you go ahead with the repair. It is the same figure whether the fault takes ten minutes to find or an hour, and it is the same figure at either end of the service area.
-
Repair
The repair is quoted before it starts
You get the price in writing before any part is ordered or any tool comes out of the bag. If the answer is that the appliance is not worth repairing, we will tell you that too, and you will have paid the diagnostic and nothing else.
The details people ask about
Is the fee per appliance or per visit?
Per appliance. If the range and the hood above it are both misbehaving and both need diagnosing, that is two diagnoses. If one fault explains both, it is one.
Does the fee change on a Saturday?
No. Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 6:00pm. Saturday, 9:00am to 4:00pm. Closed Sunday. The Saturday rate is the weekday rate. We do not run an overnight line and we do not charge an out-of-hours premium, because there are no out-of-hours.
Does it change with distance?
Not inside the service area. Mandarin, Jacksonville is home ground and we work outward from it, roughly 25 miles. Beyond that we would rather say no on the phone than quote a travel charge nobody wants to pay.
What if the part has to be ordered?
You get the price in writing before it is ordered, and the second visit to fit it is included in that price. There is no new diagnostic fee for coming back to finish the same job.
What if the fault will not show itself?
Some faults only appear cold, or only after two hours of baking. If we cannot reach a diagnosis on the first visit we will say what the next step is and what it costs before we take it, rather than guessing at a part and charging you for the guess.
What is covered afterwards?
Labour is warranted for 90 days and parts for 365 days, and the parts are genuine OEM. There is a fuller account of what that does and does not include on the warranty page, and more of these answers on the questions page.
Ring before you book anything
A minute on the phone often settles whether a visit is worth booking at all. If it is not, we will say so.
